Green shows the least dirt, but they all look so nice!

Build quality & durability

Make from the same material they make their hammocks out of, it’s actually very tough considering how lightweight and flexible it is!

After years of use, I haven’t had any stitching or things break on it. No notable holes, no fraying, no nothing – has been great! The zippers (YKK) are brilliant, the fabric is very well-woven, the stitching is strong, and overall it has held up to a lot of abuse scrambling, climbing, backpacking around.

Nice stitching, YKK zippers, and overall great build

However, it’s not very resistant to staining! In fact, if you have a colour like light blue or gold, it will show every little bit of moisture, oil, and grease with great pride! It will then look quite dirty very quickly.

Not the case with my dark green bag which blends the stains and dirt marks in very well. They’re very easy to just throw into the washing machine and clean, but yeah, get a colour that won’t show those stains!

Storage & organisation

The entire reason I love this pack – the storage and organization is just fantastic on it! You have several pockets and compartments which makes organizing your wallet, passport, wallet, clothes, sleeping gear, laptop, and everything very well.

There’s no way it should fit all this stuff… right??

While I’m able to fit a 13” Macbook Air in there no problem, there is no padding or protection – so get a laptop pouch to protect it!

Somehow just gobbles it all up without complaining

You have in essence 2 large storage areas, 3 medium storage pockets, and 1 tiny hidden storage slot built into the shoulder strap. The fabric-nature of the pack actually allows to place really weirdly-shaped and oblong objects inside with good ease. I love it for this reason, and it just seemingly holds much more stuff than it seems to be able to!

Performance

It’s not a ‘performance’ or hiking-oriented pack by any means. With that in mind, I’ve taken it on countless hikes and the lightweight nature of it has left me very satisfied.

At the Canada-US border on Akamina ridge 🙂

It is 0% waterproof as the fabric will wet out in no time. Bonus – it dries really fast.

Fits my whole camping + cooking system + laptop + toiletries + more + more + more..!

I judge its performance though on how convenient it is to use in my daily life, going through airports, hiking, doing groceries etc. And in that case, it has been brilliant!

Comfort

It’s a relatively simple pack without any sense of structure or frame. The shoulder straps have minimal padding and there is no mesh or foam on the back or anything.

With that in mind, with it being a simple pack you’re not going to be carrying heavy loads with it anyways. For days out around town or day hikes I’ve never had a problem with comfort, or discomfort, rather.

Good enough in this department, and it actually carries nicely as a satchel/side bag if you just let it hang off one shoulder.

The cons

It’s a very floppy, loose piece of fabric. There is actually a learning curve to using this bag because you don’t quite yet know where to put things and where all the zippers and compartments are. Sounds weird to say, but yeah, this bag has a learning curve that takes a few days to ‘get’.

Overall

For the price, tiny packed, strong build, organizational ability, and overall practicality, it’s like a no-brainer for me to take and I don’t think I’ve been on a single trip in the last 5 years without it!

It serves as an amazing organisational tool for my hiking trips as I dedicate each compartment to different things like power bank, sleep stuff, hygiene items, clothing, book, etc. It makes organisation a lot easier and I think I’ll always take one of these with me either as standalone or in the regular hiking backpack as an organiser/day bag.

If I use it standalone in bad weather I simply back it into my Exped Stormrunner 25 dry-bag to keep the contents safe.

I’ve taken it on more hikes than I can count!

I’d recommend picking one up in a dark colour so it doesn’t look horrifically dirty after touching it with oily fingers or sitting it down on a damp floor. Well worth the price though and a fantastic pack to take with you anywhere you go!

Comfortable, wide, pretty, and versatile - I find that they're some pretty solid bars overall and worth getting if you're up for the width.

Product Brand: Ritchey

Pros

  • Visually appealing
  • Comfortable sweep
  • Excellent build quality

Cons

  • Too wide for shorter riders
  • Limited bar-end compatibility
