Review: Linx Saber – The absolute best budget unit?

James

Linx is not quite a newcomer to the dry herb vaporizer scene even if they’re quite unknown. They’ve put out interesting units in the past like the Linx Gaia which had mixed reviews.

Linx sent me their new budget dry herb vaporizer, the Linx Saber, for my thoughts and opinions and a review, so, here it is!

Skipping any further preamble, lets hop right into the important nitty gritty, and see if it makes a spot on my difficult Best Dry Herb Varpoziers list!

Build Quality

At a tiny price tag of $59 you wouldn’t expect much, but this is where I got the biggest surprise – the whole unit is really impressively nice. Lovely aluminium body which doesn’t magnetise fingerprints, dimpled glass mouthpiece with large chamber, replaceable heating element (!!), USB-C.

Quite nice design and overall build

It has a similar overall feel and experience as say the Arizer Air types, what with its removable glass stem system and form factor, but of course the Arizer is better built overall (at over 2x the price). The glass on the unit itself feels quick thick and sturdy, and natively connects to a water piece. The mouthpiece occasionally does feel wobbly in the unit which feels uncomfortable, but remedied if you pack the bowl firmly full.

There are only 4 temperature settings and 1 button – a simple user interface which I actually enjoy, but wish the sessions were much longer as I find myself turning it on again frequently. Otherwise, the build quality while simple, is many steps ahead of what you may expect at the price. Very well done!

Performance

The most important thing – performance!

And it certainly outperforms many other things at this price point. While the vapor quality is generally along the lines of most conduction units, the glass mouthpiece and heating element really show their strengths and I get very nice flavour on those first few hits.

Too, it can produce some very, very impressive hits when you rip it – attached to a water piece or even natively. That’s credit to the very large bowl which is seemingly 2x larger than that from standard Arizer stems – aprox .3 grams if really packed in there.

Definitely worth getting the bubbler stem! Really smooth hits

I find it takes quite a while for the hits to start pumping – typical of many conduction units, but once it gets going it offers a nice, lengthy session. I find the draw is quite open, but the vapour output only comes alive when you really rip on it.

It doesn’t beat the vapor quality of my Airvape Legacy Pro, but, that unit also costs multitudes more.

Linx sent the water bubbler attachment with mine, which I do quite enjoy and certainly improves the smoothness over the stock stem, which is already quite cooled by default! A nice thing is that it can lay on its side without water spill worries too!

Battery life

It’s outfit with a fixed 2200mAh battery and USB-C charging. It leads to aprox. 4-6 sessions fully charged, depending on how you use it. To be honest, I find it a bit short in battery life, though I understand that manufacturing in a sub-$60 unit, compromises must be made, and this is one compromise.

Always glad to see USB-C on any unit!

If it came with a removable 18650 battery I could see this unit easily crossing over into S-tier category, but I cannot really complain so much by seeing the price point and other merits this unit has. It is definitely nice to see USB-C and it charges quite quickly, so no complaints there!

Portability

It’s similar to an Arizer Air – you will want to remove the stem before stowing it in your pocket. Therefor, herb falls out, you have 2 separate pieces, etc. Unfortunately no case is available for it, which would help a lot.

It is quite slim though and feels like a cigar in size. The hand-feeling overall is great and somehow does feel a bit like a dagger, hence the name. It’s quite easy to knock over though due to the skinny nature and has taken a few tumbles – I wonder how long until I break these glass stems…

It can in many cases appear like a regular e-cig, which is a good stealth benefit. Overall it’s reasonably portable, but noticable if you’re using. Still, much, much better in stealth than the Dynavap!

Ease of use

It’s about as easy to use as they get – 5 clicks on, 3 clicks adjust temperature, USB-C charge, done. Cleaning the stem is: soak in iso. Easy peasy. The heating element also may need to be cleaned (or changed), but that’s very easy as well. All in all a very simple and beginner-friendly unit to use!

A large bowl on these pieces! Seems like twice that of the Arizer units!

Overall

The Dynavap has typically been the first recommendation when someone asks for a sub-$60 vaporizer. I genuinely think this might change now. For years most electric vaporizers at this price point have just been ‘okay’.

But the Linx Saber is genuinely good and a nice deal. Dimpled glass mouthpiece, USB-C, quite large bowl, water-pipe ready – it hits a lot of good spots while only having minor faults. The fact you can change out the heating element is quite impressive and great for longevity.

It deserves a spot on my Best Dry Herb Vapes of all time article as the current #1 best budget dry herb vaporizer!

If you really are tight on cash and want to go for an electric, I’d go for this. The Dynavap is capable of larger hits, but the Saber is just good in so many ways that I would take this over my Dyna for most circumstances, if I had to have only 1 vape.

So there it is – my thoughts and opinions on the Linx Saber! Any questions or feelings just put in comments and I’ll get back to them. Thanks and bye!
